About

Truck Farm Omaha

Mission

Truck Farm Omaha is a mobile garden (planted in the bed of a 1975 Chevy pickup) truck dedicated to educating Omaha-area youth about healthy eating, environmental sustainability and the benefits of growing one’s own food.

Goals

– Educate young people about where food comes from and the benefits of eating locally
– Engage urban youth in growing their own fresh, healthy food
– Provide a fun, healthy, and environmentally friendly safe-space for youth to interact with the food system
– Promote healthy lifestyles by encouraging better eating and exercise habits

While traveling across the country for their documentary film about urban agriculture, Growing Cities, Dan and Andrew came across Truck Farms (www.truck-farm.org) from Portland, OR to Washington, D.C.  From the first sight, they knew they wanted to start a Truck Farm in their hometown of Omaha, NE.
